Difference (in process)

Equal opportunity is a political idea that exposes the underlying premise that there is a hierarchy of more and less acceptable, superior, and inferior positions in society. The continuation of equal opportunity continues the cycle of oppression because all people from birth are immediately placed in their position of the hierarchy based on where their parents stand. Say someone is born into an impoverished family with little money and resources. Most of the time these children cannot afford to go to private schools or do extra curricular activities because of their parents financial situation. So many different variables take part in this never ending cycle. A child who is born into a wealthy family often times is located in an area with a great public school if they choose not to attend private. These benefits lead to more social connections, higher education, greater success rate, etc. Everything that an impoverished child missed out on simply because opportunities were not available to them in their life. This makes me hate when people say that all it takes to make it big is hard work. Hard work for a privileged person is pre existing connections, a higher education degree, a wealthy upbringing, etc. All made because of the household they were born into. This cycle continues exclusion the oppressed,  making their competition almost impossible to beat.

Women who achieve success and defy stereotypes reinforce the "state of things" because of their new found privileges.
